Reviews
Really lovely house museum. The first rooms are splendid until is the staircase. And the staff is very friendly and very unusually you are invited to sit down on the furniture and even to open drawers and closets. And on top of that you may even get served a cup of tea for free in the winter garden. And don’t forget the huge and lovely park with roaming deer. With the park plan at least for two hours. Museum card is accepted and reservations seems recommend it. This is a unique museum.
This was so much fun. Would have really liked to see one of the bedrooms still set up upstairs, but other than that, highly recommend visiting this beautiful home.
Rams Woerthe actually consists of two museums: in the basement there is the Hildo Krop Museum, dedicated to the ceramics collection of this Amsterdam City Sculptor (1884-1970) and the bel etage floor, dedicated to the recently restored Jugendstil/Art Nouveau interior. Both venues are unique and well worth a visit. For people who love Amsterdam the Hildo Krop museum is a must: He sculpted many bridge decorations at the beginning of the 20th century. The Jugendstil bel etage has a special kind of magic. The volunteers who are effective here know how to create a grand bourgeois atmosphere. This is quite peculiar when you get to know more about the political convictions of the sculptor Hildo Krop. Outside the museums there is a beautiful deer park and also the fortificated town of Steenwijk is well worth a visit.
Stunning art Deco house, almost complete restored.
One word great. What a beautiful building and garden/park.
Beautiful villa with conservatory to visit where you can become acquainted with the legacy of Hildo Krop in the basement. Usually you are forced by a setup like this with subtle gates along the walkways, but here you can walk and take a seat wherever you want. It starts at the entrance where you have to ring the doorbell as if you are visiting someone and you can walk through the house. The top floor contains rooms that have been rented out, but it is also possible to take a look here. The hospitable volunteers add extra atmosphere to this 'intimate home visit'. A special but very welcome experience to look around here.
Interesting and the tea and waffles offered with a view of the gardens were a nice touch
Beautiful Art Nouveau rooms on the ground floor. Museum about Hildo Krop is also special. Very informative. Passionate volunteers. But this city architect of Amsterdam actually deserves a professional museum, in Amsterdam, not a basement in Rams Woerthe.
All in all highly recommended!
Nice park around it.
Welcoming reception in the villa.
